Arena Centar Shopping Centre, Zagreb
OBO supplied systems for lightning protection and underfloor power supply
The Arena Centar Shopping Centre in Zagreb combines shopping, entertainment and sport under a single roof, thus offering a shopping experience which is unique in the region. OBO underfloor systems support the business through a flexible and discreet power supply. OBO lightning protection systems were installed to protect the shopping centre against lightning and surge voltage damage.
The Arena Centar Zagreb shopping centre, which cost 350 million euros, is located in the south-western part of the Croatian capital, very close to the Arena Sports Hall Zagreb. The largest foreign direct investments in south-eastern Europe since the start of the financial crisis were made to allow the construction of the huge shopping centre. More than 7,500 construction workers worked every day for 12 months until Arena Centar was opened at an official ceremony on 5 October 2010.
Today, more than 2,500 people work at Arena Centar. On an area of 60,000 square metres, more than 220 shops offer their goods and services, including an Interspar hypermarket with an area of 10,000 square metres. A multiplex cinema with 10 theatres, as well as a sky bowling centre with 24 lanes, round off the shopping experience. In the sales areas, OBO underfloor systems provide a discreet, flexible power supply, thus extending the options for design and use of the shops. Even if there is a storm outside, an OBO lightning protection system ensures a safe shopping experience and protects the shopping centre against damage from lightning and surge voltages.
